Mattermost Federal
Mattermost, an open-source chat platform, expanded into the federal space, catering to public-sector organizations that prioritize secure on-premises deployment. To align with this shift, the company needed a new brand identity. I led the rebrand, conducting competitive analysis and industry research to shape the new aesthetic.
Creative Direction
I developed new brand guidelines for Mattermost, incorporating topographic maps and camouflage patterns to resonate with the defense audience. I modernized the icon library with a utilitarian style and refined the color palette to evoke austerity and authority, aligning with federal and defense priorities.
Photography
I integrated photography into Mattermost’s brand identity for the first time, using both stock and government-provided images. I developed comprehensive photography guidelines and an image library for cross-functional teams to utilize.
Website Refresh
I developed a project plan to refresh the marketing website. This included creating a workback schedule, defining stakeholder involvement, designing templates, and assigning prioritization tiers. Working closely with reviewers, I incorporated feedback to align with marketing goals while optimizing the user journey. I also collaborated with the development team for a seamless handoff.
Tradeshow Materials
Mattermost attends many tradeshow events and needed an evergreen package of marketing materials that they could utilize across all events. I designed banners, swag, and collateral.
